エキノコックス症、脳嚢虫症は新興・再興寄生虫感染症として国際的な問題になっている。本研究ではアジアにおけるこれらの寄生虫の多様性(種、病原性)ならびに地理拡散について、進化学的な観点から調査研究を展開する。条虫の分類学的再検討を含め、種間変異、種内変異の解析を中心に、それぞれの種の多様性の解析を試み、(1)遺伝子ならびに形態学的解析に基づく分類学的再検討、(2)病原性の多様性、(3)条虫症の地球上での分布拡散、(4)進化学的考察についての解析・考察を試みる。
