项目摘要

寺山修司は演劇実験室・天井桟敷の演劇活動において、「文学」から離れることを唱え、演劇の「文学」性を批判してきた。中期作品にあたる「密室劇三部作」は「言葉」についての問題を提起し、例えばその中の「盲人書簡（上海篇）」（初演1974年）が劇場の「闇」を通して、観客に非言語的な「本物」の体験を与えようとするような模索をしている。寺山が台本というテクストを劇場での上演と別の「読物」として捉えている。本研究はこれまで、それらの言語表現としての「読物」に焦点を当て、先行作品の引用を確認しながら、その意味内容を解読することを試みてきた。寺山における「文学」という概念は、必ずしも自明なものではなく、「言葉」「理性」「想像力」「記憶」「権力」「歴史」などの語に変貌しながら、その台本や古典現代語訳などのテクストの中に表現される。1960年代初頭のアングラ文化を視野に入れつつ寺山作品の位置付けを側面から突き止めると、アングラ演劇の「隠れた教祖」（奥野健男）と呼ばれ、寺山と同じ東北出身の土方巽は避けられない。寺山をはじめとする小劇場運動演劇の第一世代の劇作家たちと土方巽との交友関係は、土方巽アーカイブ（慶應義塾大学アート・センター）で確認される。また、「アンダーグラウンド劇のはしり」（佐々木治己）といわれる「真田風雲録」（初演1962年）を作劇した福田善之は、劇団青年芸術劇場の座付き劇作家であるが、同劇団には、のちアングラ演劇の担い手である唐十郎と佐藤信が一時期研究生として所属していた。同時代の文化史・演劇史は、寺山作品の言語表現の特徴を考察するには重要である。本研究は今後、引き続きテクストに基づいて実証し、寺山作品を歴史的に位置付けることを目指す。
