项目摘要

本研究の目的は、東アフリカのイギリス領に配置されたキングス・アフリカン・ライフルズ（King's African Rifles: KAR）のうちウガンダ第4大隊の、ウガンダ独立時の解体と国軍編成の過程、KAR兵士や独立後の国軍兵士の大戦後・除隊後の生活を明らかにすることである。令和4年度は、ハーバード大学燕京研究所（Harvard Yenching Institute: HYI）および同大学アフリカ研究センター（Harvard University Center for African Studies: CAS）におけるアフリカの歴史と文化に関する研修プログラムへの参加をとおして、ウガンダを含む東アフリカをはじめ、西アフリカや南部アフリカの植民地期から独立後、現代に至るまでの各地の治安部隊、国家と社会に関する地域差や共通点をめぐる議論について知見を得られたことが大きな収穫であった。この滞在期間に、本研究課題に関する専門の研究者と研究交流が進んだことも評価できる。研究成果として、2022年11月に第65回全米アフリカ学会における口頭発表、2022年12月に第33回国際開発学会・全国大会（前夜祭）パネルでの口頭発表、2023年4月にハーバード大学CASにおける最終成果発表コロキアムにおける口頭発表を実施した。これらの発表機会をとおして得た参加者からのフィードバックの数々は、本研究課題を進めるうえで極めて貴重なものとなっている。執筆した2本の学術論文が令和5年度内に刊行されるよう、尽力する。

The purpose of this study is to clarify the configuration of the East African Rifles (King's African Rifles: KAR), the disintegration of the 4th Brigade, the formation process of the KAR soldiers and the life of the KAR soldiers after independence. Yenching Research Institute of Linghe University Harvard Yenching Institute: HYI)（Harvard University Center for African Studies: CAS) is a research and development organization with a history and culture related to its participation. It includes East China, West China and South China. It has a history of planting since independence and modern times. It has a common geographical difference between local security forces and national society. This research topic is related to the development of research and communication between researchers. The research results were presented orally at the 65th National Conference of CAS in November 2022, the 33rd National Conference of CAS in December 2022, and the final results of CAS in April 2023. This research topic is very important. Write 2 academic papers and publish them within 5 years
