项目摘要

本研究では沖縄返還後の沖縄と台湾の関係がどのように変わったのかを問う。沖縄返還後になされた日中国交正常化や冷戦終結が、沖縄と台湾の関係にどのような影響を与え、それが東アジア国際関係にとってどのような意味があったのかを、沖縄と台湾の関係を通して考察することが目的である。2022年度はロシア・ウクライナ戦争の影響によって、いわゆる「台湾有事」への懸念が高まりつつあるとされる中で、沖縄と中台問題に関する歴史的研究から今日の情勢に対してどのようなインプリケーションが提示できるのかを議論した。「日本復帰後の沖縄と中国および台湾との関係」（『生活経済政策』7月号）ではこれまでの研究成果を紹介した上で、沖縄・台湾関係の歴史的経緯に関する実証的な研究は現実的かつ地に足の着いた議論に資すことができるとまとめた。8月には「ロシア・ウクライナ戦争が与える中台問題への影響―沖縄の視点から―」と題した報告を早稲田大学平和学研究所主催シンポジウム『ロシア・ウクライナ戦争と日本 ―沖縄、核兵器、日本国憲法』にて行った。ここでは、ウクライナ侵攻が東アジアの安全保障環境、とりわけ中台問題に与える影響について、日米中台沖の反応を概観した上で、実際の戦場となりうる沖縄側の視点から考察した。11月には「沖縄から戦後日本国家を見る――沖縄から古関・豊下『沖縄憲法なき戦後』を読む」（日本平和学会秋季研究集会）を報告した。ここでも今日の「台湾有事」をめぐる国際政治を念頭におきながら、『沖縄憲法なき戦後』から得られた意義をまとめた上で、沖縄を起点とする東アジアの平和と安全の可能性について議論した。2023年3月には台湾の中央研究院近代史研究所での調査を実施できた。外交部資料のほか、中琉文化経済協会の文書を収集することできた。
