An Investigation of English Language Learners' Attitudes Towards Global Englishes: For A Paradigm Shift in English Language Teaching

The research project has produced useful results. First, two papers were presented at international conferences on English language teaching and applied linguistics, such as the conference of the American Association for Applied Linguistics (AAAL) and the Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) International Convention and English Language Expo. Second, the main study was completed. The findings showed that the students’ exposure to diverse varieties of English influenced their globally-oriented attitudes negatively. The qualitative data supported the aforementioned results, showing the crucial role of their mindsets that are deeply rooted in society. Third, to reach a wider audience, I submitted two articles for review to international journals.
