项目摘要

本研究の目的は、これまでの研究知見から外国語学習を促進すると予測される機能を含んだiPadでの読解アプリを開発し、それらの機能の効果や、学習者の読解時の行動について調査することである。昨年度に作成した、研究用のiPadアプリケーションをさらに発展させ、複数の機能(難しい単語をタップすることでその意味を注釈の形式で提示するポップアップ辞書機能、単語の発音を再生する機能、意味を調べられた単語や読解時間などを記録する機能、一文ずつ英文を表示する機能、単語の語頭を強調表示する機能など)を含んだ実験用アプリを作成した。また、昨年度使用した実験用具、測定具を用いて、４０名程度の大学生を参加者としてポップアップ辞書や文字の強調表示が読解、語彙学習に与える影響について実験を行った。実験から得られたデータを部分的に分析し、ポップアップ辞書を使ったタブレット教材からの語彙学習が確認され、また学習はその他の学習者・教材要因に影響を受けることが分かった。実験から得られた結果は、国内の学会で発表を行ったり、学術誌への投稿することを計画している。また、この研究結果を踏まえ、さらに学習者の個人要因に焦点を当てた、第二実験を開始した。現段階では、先行研究の精査、調べる個人要因の測定具の選定が済んでいる。更に、本プロジェクトに関連した分析手法を応用させた他の研究を国際学会で発表したり、語彙学習に影響を与える要因について認知的な処理に焦点を当てた学術図書の執筆を行った。
