本研究の目的は、英作文で産出される多種多様な誤りにおいて、読み手による意味理解の阻害度が大きい誤りに焦点を当てた場合、正しい形を与える直接的フィードバックと誤りの存在のみを知らせる間接的フィードバックのどちらが効果的なのかを検証することである。従来の訂正フィードバック研究では、誤りを品詞別 (例. 動詞) に分類した上で、フィードバックの効果を検証する研究にとどまっており、書き手と読み手の意思疎通を念頭においた教育的介入を理論的に検証した研究はほとんどない。本研究は、英作文中の誤りを「読み手による意味理解の阻害度」という新しい観点から分類し、訂正フィードバックの効果を比較・検証する。本研究を行うことで、書き手と読み手の意思疎通を重視したライティング指導を実現することが可能となる。まず、(1) 本研究に関わる先行研究の全体や流れを整理する、(2) 効率的な実験遂行のための計画をたてることを行った。(1) に関して、誤りの重さ (error gravity) に焦点をおいた訂正フィードバック研究は、国内のみならず、第二言語として英語を学ぶ学習者を対象とした研究も希薄であり、さらに、本研究で扱う概念の定義 (例. 誤り) も研究間で一貫性が保たれていないことがわかった。これらの課題点を踏まえ、今後は、本研究の考察を深める論文の収集・整理や構成概念の明確化を図る予定である。(2) に関して、効率的な実験を遂行するため、実験で得られる結果に大きく関わる要因 (例. 熟達度、トピック、作成時間) や実験全体 (例. スケジュール、分析手法) の検討を行った。引き続き、実験実施に向けて準備を進める予定である。
