検挙される犯罪のうち，繰り返し同種の犯罪を行う常習者の割合の多さが問題視されている。そして，常習者は犯罪に関する複数の記憶を有しているため，記憶を検出対象とするポリグラフ検査では検出が困難となるケースがある上，基礎研究レベルではほとんど研究対象とされていなかった。そこで，本研究では，実務を出発点とするポリグラフ検査の手続きに対し，実験心理学的な記憶研究の知見を援用することで，常習者を対象とした場合でも効率的に記憶検出が可能となる方法の確立を目指す。該当年度には，ソースモニタリング研究の知見に基づき，ポリグラフ検査時に適切な情報源記憶へのアクセスを促すことで，常習者を対象とした効果的なポリグラフ検査開発を試みるため，研究Aの実験を実施した。研究Aでは，すべての参加者が2回の模擬犯罪を行うことで，常習者としてポリグラフ検査を受けた。常習者というと数えきれない犯行を繰り返すイメージがあるが，これまでの研究から，2回の模擬犯罪で記憶検出困難となることが実証されており，本研究でもその方法を踏襲した。実験スケジュールとしては，1度目の模擬犯罪から2週間経過後に2度目の模擬犯罪を行い，さらに2度目の模擬犯罪から2週間経過後にポリグラフ検査を実施した。模擬犯罪課題については，1度目の模擬犯罪を行った部屋にネガティブ情報として防犯カメラを設置する実験条件と，防犯カメラのを設置しない統制条件を設けた。ソースモニタリングの研究では，記憶の符号化時にネガティブな情報と対になっていた情報の情報源記憶は正確になることがわかっているため(Bell et al.,2012)，ネガティブ情報として防犯カメラを設置した実験条件において，ポリグラフ検査において記憶検出が可能となるかを検討するための分析を行っている。
