National formation of modern Japan in view of geopolitics and colonialism and the thoughts of geography and space

本课题组试图从阐明(1)地理思想、(2)地缘政治、(3)追赶当前英语国家地理学的理论走向三个方面着手，并于近期出版《空间、社会与地理思想》杂志（第4 ~ 6期）。这些期刊载有29篇文章和译文。随着人们对社会学、经济学和历史学等邻近学科的社会空间研究的兴趣日益浓厚，本刊通过发表地理学巨擘的原创文章和译著而产生的影响力越来越大，被认为是深化地理学理论论证的基础。这一运动成功地在一份著名的社会科学杂志上出版了空间研究专刊。特别是，该项目阐明了战前时期地缘政治的贡献，并可以在这一领域获得新的事实调查结果。值得一提的是，在韩国庆州举行的东亚替代地理学家会议和韩国大邱举行的第二届国际批判地理学家会议上，批判性地理学家之间建立了新的国际联系。

This research group attempts to pursue three issues such as the elucidation of (1) geography thought, (2) geopolitics, and (3) catch-up of the theoretical trend of current Anglophone geography, with an immediate publishing of the journal of "Space, Society, and Geography Thought" from No.4 to No.6. These journals contained twenty-nine articles and translations. In the growing interest in the socio-spatial works in the neighboring disciplines of sociology, economics and history, the influence of this journal is becoming very large through the publications of original articles and translations of great figures in geography, which are thought to be the foundation deepening a theoretical argument geographically. This movement was successfully producing the special issues of spatial studies in one of the famous journal of social science. Especially, this project shed light on geopolitical contributions in the pre-war days and could obtain new fact-findings in this field. It is also note-worthy to mention about the newly constructed international connection among critical geographers in the conferences of East Asia conference of alternative geographers of Kyonju, Korea and the second international conference of critical geographers of Taegu, Korea.
