英文摘要
Hot tears are a critical quality criterion, that can lead to the rejection of aluminum cast components. Avoiding these is an important part of the design process. The mechanisms, which lead to hot tears are complex, since they are influenced by several parameters. These parameters include the design of the cast system, the geometry, and the composition of the aluminium alloy. There are several methods to investigate hot tears. They can be divided into in-situ and ex-situ methods. While ex-situ processes either work destructively or cannot provide sufficient information, the in-situ processes are complex and do not give enough information about the formation of hot tears. For this reason, the Chair of Metal Forming and Casting will conduct an in-situ investigation into the formation of hot tears using optical fiber strain sensors. In this research project, the strain rates during hot tearing will be recorded using Fiber-Bragg-Gratings and the influence of aluminum alloys on hot tears will be determined. The knowledge gained will be used as a model for the numerical prediction of hot tears and thus lead to an increase of the cast quality.
