Spatial Configuration of Temporary Settings and Urban Lively Places in East Asian Cities

许多传统的亚洲城市都有热闹的城市化高密度场所，街头小贩在公共街道和市场上设置了临时设置，这是许多发达城市在现代化进程中失去的。本研究旨在通过对日本福冈、首尔、韩国釜山、中国天津等城市的实地调查，分析亚洲城市现有热闹城市空间中临时设置和人类行为的功能、空间配置。通过对目标区域的空间形态和人类活动的实地调查和分析，明确了空间的类型，并从物理和社会两个方面分析了这些空间的短暂性和灵活性。在此基础上，提出了新传统亚洲风格的城市设计方法，通过重新评估被现代城市规划理论所忽略的时间设置和元素的有用性来振兴公共空间。

Many of conventional Asian cities have had the lively urbanized high-density places with temporary settings installed by street vendors in public streets and markets, which many of the developed cities lost in the process of modernization. This study aims to analyze the function and spatial configuration of the temporary settings and human behaviors in the existing lively urban spaces of Asian cities through the field surveys on the cities such as Fukuoka (Japan), Seoul, Busan (Korea), Tianjin(China), and so on. Through the field surveys and analysis on the spatial configuration and human activities in the target areas, we clarified the typology of spaces, and analyze the transience and flexibility of these spaces from both of physical and social aspects. Then we pointed out the neo-traditional Asian-style urban design method to revitalize the public spaces by re-evaluating the usefulness of temporal settings and elements which has been missed by the modern city planning theorem.
