International Collaborative Research Project on Architectural Rehabilitation and Architectural Landscape: Concept and Approach for the Building Method on Cultural Heritage around 'Authenticity'

本研究的目的是从文化遗产的角度，探讨城市历史街区建筑改造项目和新建项目的真实性。作为研究项目的结果，我们发现了以下情况;在欧洲国家从事建筑遗产工作的专家批评说，从历史建筑中继承的建筑语言是伪造的作品。他们的想法意味着项目以这种方式欺骗城市的历史。在这些国家的历史街区中，有许多高质量的当代建筑作品。另一方面，在台湾、中国大陆及日本，借由历史地区的传统建筑语言，在历史地区的新建或改建工程中，创造出和谐的建筑语言。我们发现，从历史环境的角度考虑，亚洲和欧洲国家在建筑设计的真实性理念上存在很大的差异。

The purpose of this research is to discuss authenticity both on architectural renovation projects and new projects in the historic areas of the cities in terms of cultural heritage. As the result of the research project, we found followings; the specialists, who are working for the architectural heritage in European countries, criticize that architectural language that were taken over from historic buildings are fake works. Their ideas mean that the projects in that way deceive history of the city. There are many kinds of high quality contemporary architectural works in the historic areas in these countries. On the other hand, to hire traditional architectural language of the historic area for the new projects or renovation projects in the area creates harmonious architectural language in Taiwan, China and Japan. We found that there is a big difference on idea of authenticity of the architectural design, considering to the historic environment, between the Asian and European countries.
