In the researches on Joseph Laska, a musician from Austria, who lived in Kansai from 1923 to 1935 and on the Takarazuka Symphony Orchestra which was founded by him as its conductor with the orchestra members of the Takarazuka Girls' Opera, emphasis for the last three years was placed on the theme "Laska as a composer". For this purpose the investigator visited the Austrian National Library, Vienna Municipal State Library and Bruckner Conservatory of Linz every year and copied or took pictures of the autographs, manuscript copies and published scores of his works. On these sources thus obtained many of his compositions became 'true music' through the performances of professional musicians and many young people who can play orchestral instruments and in this way many data for the advanced researches were attained. The main works which were performed and recorded in CD are "Manyoshu-Lieder", "Japanese Suite" and "7 Haiku". The investigator endeavored also to collect biographical data: important information was acquired about the contents of concerts of the Royal Academy of Munich and the works which Laska played in 2 of these concerts during the two years in which he was student of this Academy. In various meetings of the International and Japanese Society for Aesthetics, the investigator reported the historical meaning and the aesthetic qualities of the works of Laska. His name came to be known little by little through these researches of the investigator and, as one of its tokens, the essential parts of his "Japanese Suite" were re-performed by the orchestra of Takarazuka Revue Company, in September, 2002, and the meaning of activity of Laska and the Takarazuka Symphony Orchestra came to be gradually revaluated.
