Taxonomic Study of Japanese Animal Specimens collected by Dr Doderlein

杜德林博士从1879年起在日本停留了两年，期间收集的日本动物标本在欧洲的一些博物馆中被发现。从2000年开始，部分日本分类学家历时3年，对这批多德莱因藏品进行了调查，得出了以下惊人的结果：在欧洲几家博物馆新发现的日本脊椎动物标本共125件，包括39种。在法国斯特拉斯堡动物博物馆发现了7个甲壳类标本。其中，有三种可以根据其类型材料进行描述。存放在洪堡大学博物馆的43件软珊瑚标本中，有两件是杜德林收集的。Doderlein在日本收集了37种棘皮动物。这是一只海百合，八颗海星，五颗鬃星和二十三只海胆。维也纳自然历史博物馆收藏了180种391件标本。其中类型标本32种88件。瑞士日内瓦博物馆发现了三种棘皮动物的四种标本。数据库记录了来自Doderlein Collection的65种鱼类、43种棘皮动物、256种苔藓虫和249种海绵，并附有照片。

Japanese animal specimens collected by Dr L. Doderlein during his stay in Japan for two years from 1879 were discovered in some European museums. Selected Japanese taxonomists have investigated this Doderlein Collection for three years from 2000 and gave astounding results as follows :1. One hundred twenty five Japanese vertebrate specimens including 39 types were newly discovered from several European museums.2. Seven galatheid crustacean specimens were discovered from Musee Zoologique, Strasbourg. Among these, three are redy to be described based on their type materials.3. Forty-three soft coral specimens deposited in the Humboldt University Museum included two specimens collected by Doderlein.4. Doderlein collected 37 species of echinoderms from Japan. These are one sea lily, eight sea stars, five bristle stars and 23 sea urchins.5. A total of 391 specimens in 180 species were deposited in the Vienna Natural History Museum. Among these, 88 specimens in 32 species are types.6. Four specimens in three species of echinoderms, all types, were discovered from the Geneva Museum, Switzerland.7. Sixty-five fishes, 43 echinoderms, 256 bryozoans and 249 sponges from Doderlein Collection were recorded in the database together with their photographs.
