Positive Study on Material Development and Practice Teaching by the Use of Japanese Taiko Drums

In this study, the researchers took field interviews and examined literatures and records on the subject. The study also includes an investigation of the present state of the study of Japanese Taiko Drums in junior high schools in practice, through collecting the answers from the questionnaires distributed to the Board of Education in about 700 cities throughout the country. Additionally, the researchers examined potentials of Japanese Taiko Drums as a study material in that learning of Japanese Taiko Drums sets a good example of what learning should be, and educators can make the best use of it. Moreover, leaning of Japanese Taiko Drums provides an opportunity where educators are able to build a structure of lessons with students.Through these fundamental investigations and examinations, the researchers built a hypothesis on the idea and methods when taking up Japanese sound and music as a material of musical expression.
