The developed system is designed to consolidate information necessary for mouse banking system including :1.basic information, such as mouse strain name, background characteristics, and depositor information2.information before embryos are produced by perfusion in an in vitro and in vivo fertilization, such as superovulation, fertilization rate, and number of embryos3.thawing and recovery status information when the frozen embryos produced in step 2 are to be thawed and transferred, and transfer result information when they are transferred into the recipient4.isolator information including monitoring information, and5.storage information on the fertilized eggs producedThe system makes the most of the functions of relational database once data is input, it is reflected to the scheduling function in the system. Also, taking account of familiarity of the users, it adopted the layout similar to the paper form used before the system was introduced. Barcodes are used to manage the enormous a … More mount of frozen resources and minimize the human errors such as mix-up.In phase 2,we further pursued the user convenience by adopting the CARD ID to reinforce the relationship with the R-BASE, which has been open to the public, and accelerating the response to the outside. In addition, information on "embryo production" and "thawing and transfer," separately managed in phase 1,is now combined as a series of works and it became possible to manage package deposition requests. Furthermore, highly secure resource management has been realized by putting an ID sticker on top of frozen tubes, which used to be affixed with barcodes on their sides only.It is needless to say that we have contributed significantly to the effective utilization of existing assets by building a database system as a Web application. Such a complicated system used to be only possible with Windows computers, although most of the computers in this center are Macintosh. We succeeded in removing the barrier between different operating systems. Less
