本年度はペルシアによるリュディア王国征服からイオニア反乱までのペルシアの支配の実態とそれに対するギリシア人の対応に取り組み、同時にペルシア戦争の終戦時期に関する考察を進めた。イオニア反乱にいたる小アジアとギリシア本土における対ペルシア外交の政治過程については、ペルシアの小アジア支配の分析と同時に、ペルシアの支配下に入ったイオニアなどの小アジア沿岸のギリシア諸都市、アテナイやスパルタなどペルシア戦争期には低抗の中軸となったポリスの対ペルシア政策を中心に比較研究した。その結果、ペルシアの支配は抑圧的ではなく銀の供給や交易の促進などギリシア人に益するところが大きく、ギリシア人の敵意を掻き立てる要因が見当たらないこと、逆にギリシア人の側にペルシアの支配を積極的に受容しようとする空気のあることが明らかになった。とりわけイオニアを含む小アジアのギリシア人の有力者はペルシア王や総督、貴族とのつながりを自国での支配の正当化と権威の根拠として活用していたことが本研究を通じて考察された。またアテナィやスパルタにまったく敵意がなく、小アジアの情勢に対して消極的対応に終始していたことも指摘しておかなければならない。ペルシア戦争の終戦時期に関して前四四九年のカッリアスの平和を根拠にデロス同盟結成後もペルシア戦争が続いたとする説が有力であるが、文献史料・碑文資料の検討を通じてカッリアスの平和には歴史的信愚性の問題があり、プラタイアとミュカレーの戦いを終戦時期とすることの妥当性を論じた。そしてその背景に戦争と平和に関する古代ギリシア人の現代人とは異なる法観念が横たわっていることを指摘した。そして本年度が研究の最終年度となってしまうために報告書をまとめ、現在印刷中であることを付け加えておく。
