1.The compilation and organization of the literature on deep-sea mussels.2.The acquisition of image processing system and deep freezer for morphologic and genetic studies on deep-sea mussels.3.Participation of the Shinkai 6500 dive cruise executed at the Lau Basin in 2004 and sampling deep-sea mussel, Bathymodiolus brevior Cosel, Metivier and Hashimoto, 1994.4.Morphologic analysis on deep-sea mussels collected from a hydrothermal vent site of the Kaikata Seamount. The result was posted at the 20^<th> Shinkai Symposium organized by Japan Agency of Marine Science and Technology as follows ;Hashimoto, J.(2004) Morphologic analysis on burrowing deep-sea mussels. The abstract papers of the Shinkai Symposium, 20 : 69.5.In 2005, the description paper of burrowing deep-sea mussels from the Kaikata Seamount was published as follows ;6.Morphologic analysis on deep-sea mussels collected from the Manus Basin, Papua New Guinea. The result was posted at the 22^<th> Shinkai Symposium organized by Japan Agency of Marine Science and Technology as follows ;Hashimoto, J.(2006) Morphologic analysis on deep-sea mussels from a vent site on the Manus Basin. The abstract papers of the Shinkai Symposium, 22: 80-81.The result is under submitted to a scientific journal.7.Morphologic analysis on deep-sea mussels from a vent site on the Minami-Ensei Knoll and a seep site off Kikaijima Island. The mussels were identified as undescribed mussels belonging to the genus Gigantidas and Bathymodiolus aduloides Hashimoto and Okutani, 1994, respectively.Same studies will be continued from now on.
