The aim is to improve the understanding of the interaction of hydrodynamics, chemical reactions, heat transfer, and pollutant formation in oxy-fuel combustion of solid fuels under conditions similar to those prevailing in industrial applications. Experiments are conducted in a water-cooled pulver-ized fuel fired 1 MWth furnace using a variety of complementary measurement technologies at var-ious measurement ports along the furnace axis. Additional experiments are performed by TGA and an entrained flow reactor to determine the formation of nitrogen and chlorine species during bio-mass pyrolysis and char oxidation.
