1.西九州の海底遺跡分布域に研究の中心をおいた。特に熊本県有明海から長崎県五島列島にわたる範囲を重点的に調査した。2.長崎県下の海底遺跡図を作成した。3.熊本県有明海東岸から長崎県五島列島にわたる北緯33度線の4地点(東経130度40分,同130度,同129度20分,同128度40分)の4地点における6千年前の海面高度を氷河性海水準変動に基づく理論値を求めた。その結果、陸側に近い有明海側では4m,五島列島では-4m,大村湾南岸は0mと求められた。4.上の理論値を検証するとともに埋汲地形を復元するためのボーリング調査を長崎県北高来郡森山町海底低地,同諫早市津水町海岸,同彼杵郡多良見町伊木力海岸,同西彼杵郡三和町宮崎,同南松浦郡玉之浦町中須,同大宝浦,南松浦郡奈留町大串,同汐池,熊本県天草郡五和町で実施した。機械ボーリングによって延掘進長約50m,手動式ピストンコアラーによる調査では延掘進長約70mの掘削を行った。ボーリング調査は何れも不撹乱方式でオールコアリングのサンプルを採取した。採取したサンプルは海面高度を決定するために,イオウ化合物の定量分析、珪藻遺骸群集組成の解析を進め、海成層上限の認定作業中である。5.海面高度に年代値を入れるC14法年代測定は、平成5年3〜4月に行う予定である。6.上記4と5の研究結果が出た段階で、3の理論値とのクロスチェツを行ない、真の海面高度を決定する。7.平成5年度は今年度の調査方法で佐賀県〜長崎県壱岐,対馬域を調査するとともに、埋没海底地形を復元し、その地形面上に出土している遺物をプロットして海底遺跡探査の資料としたい。
