项目摘要

本研究では、画像データベースの自然言語による検索を題材とし、主観的感性語彙を含む言語情報と、画像情報とのマッチング手法について検討した。従来の画像データベース・システムでは、画像一枚ごとに内容を表すキーをあらかじめ与えておき、検索するときには引き出したい画像のキーを指定する方法が主流であった。最近では、画像処理研究と自然言語処理研究の成果を利用して、画像と言語との総合的な取扱いが試みられ、画像の中の特徴を言語で指定して検索を行うことがある程度可能になった。しかし、それらのシステムは、単に画像解析結果を適当な語彙と対応づけ、その語彙をキーとして検索を行うものが多く、同じ意味の言語表現でも、キーとして定義されている語彙を用いた言い回ししか受け付けられないなどの問題点があった。そこで、本研究では、検索に比較的自由な語彙や文体の自然語表現を用いられるように、言語と画像のマッチング手法を検討した。特に、データベースや画像処理等に関する専門知識のない利用者の使い勝手を重視し、1.ユーザが自分の要求を表明するときに多用される直観あるいは感性に基づく印象を表す語彙の取り扱いと、2.対話的に要求を明確化する際に多く用いられる比較表現の取り扱いについて検討した。1で取り扱う感性語彙解釈を画像検索へ適用する場合、原データの解析結果と感性語彙の解釈結果との照らし合わせ作業が必要となる。また、感性語彙を含んだ自由な文体の日本語文を受け付けられるようなシステムはこれまでに報告されていない。本研究では、自由な文体・語彙を用いた日本語文入力を受け付け、画像解析結果と照らし合わせて検索を行うシステムを、椅子の電子化カタログを題材に試作した。
