平成5年度において行った本研究に関係する主な活動は、(1)「日本エコロジズム」に関係する文献・資料の分析、(2)青森・秋田・長野各県における地域史料調査及び聞き取り調査、(3)青山学院大学における共同公開シンポジウム、群馬県館林市及び秋田県鷹巣市における公開研究会、東京における帰国報告会の開催、(4)中国、中央アジア、東南アジア、米国の視察調査、(5)国内及び外国の学会・研修会における研究発表・講演、(6)研究成果の研究紀要及び一般雑誌への寄稿、から成っている。この詳細は、別途、総括班事務局を通じても報告した。本研究班は、平成4年度及び平成5年度の2ケ年、重点領域研究「文明と環境」に参画する機会を与えられた。この間の研究調査活動を通じて痛感させられたことは、国内外で環境破壊が急速に進む一方で、それへの対応には著しい混迷と停滞が見られることである。それは、教育研究及び実践の分野でも例外ではない。それは、専ら、環境問題が近代的諸制度そのものの行き詰まりを示す問題であることに由来するものと思われる。また、今後、組織化を急ぐべき環境保護活動は、外来の単なる借り物の思想に依拠するわけには行かない。この様な意味から、本研究班が「日本エコロジズム」研究を通じて示した視覚は、必ずや一定の価値を有すると考えている。以上の本研究の成果は、平成6年度末までに、一冊の図書として公刊する計画である。
