An Australian policy framework for systemic assessments of emerging risks

The project will identify, in the Australian context, the main driving forces (eg globalisation, global climate change, an ageing population, increased interconnectivity of infrastructure) that are increasing risks for natural disasters, technological accidents, infectious diseases, terrorism-related risks, and food safety. The project will also identify and prioritise gaps in knowledge regarding risk assessment that require more research. The final report on a policy framework for risk assessment will assist policy makers in many jurisdictions and assist research agencies and research funding agencies in achieving a more focused effort in safeguarding Australia.
