本年度は2年度にわたる研究として計画したが、その初年度にあたる平成9年度の成果はのとおりである。1.著作権情報センター『出演者名簿1997年版』、『芸団協名簿平成8年版』、『クラシック音楽マネジメント・ガイド』、『音楽年鑑』、『日本のオペラ年鑑』などの団体名簿を基に、上演組織5,000団体以上のリストを作成した。団体数は多いが、この中には、マネージメントだけを請け負うもの、出演者を派遣するだけのもの、映画・録音等を主たる活動とするもの、養成主たる活動とするもの、機関団体でありながらときに上演も実施するものなど、各種の性格・活動形態が含まれていることが予想される。2.10年前に行われた同様の調査を参考にして調査票を作成し、上記の団体に宛てて発送した。調査項目は、基礎的事項、昨年度の公演活動、代表的主催公演、経理収支である。設問の設定には、組織による性格・活動形態の違いが明確になるよう心がけたい。3.サービス業基本調査の特別集計を再整理して、今回調査対象とする上演組織と比較したところ、今回の対象にはサービス業調査の対象となっていないものが多数含まれていることが予想された。
