Study of the recycle of the waste hair and feather

The utilization of waste animal hair and feather has been studied to aim the zero-emission. The easy extraction system of feather was established. Feather was made damp with water to reduce the volume, and extracted in low concentration alkaline solution at high temperature. These procedures were applying as a patent PCT/JP2005/005672 'Manufacture of hydrolyzed-keratin'.It was examined to the effectiveness of hydrolyzed-keratin for the cosmetic material. The damaged hair by experiment has been repaired with hydrolyzed-keratin by electronmicroscopic analysis. Moreover, the effects of the repair and protect of leather were recognized, and those data were applied for patent '2005-282444, 'repair and protect reagents of leather'.As the decomposing methods of animal hair and feather, the screening of the microorganisms to secrete the keratinase has been made a common study with Institute of Medical Micology (Teikyo University), Animal Life Science (Tokyo Univ.of Agri.and Technol.), and Tokyo Metropolitan Leather Technology Center. In those studies, some promising microorganisms and new detection methods of microorganisms were discovered.
