Privacy Conscious Video Communication based on International Image Coding Standard

传统的视频通信系统将目标人物的视频图像详细地传送到接收机。这些系统一直忽视人的思想，有时他或她不想被看到。本研究旨在开发一种新的视频通信系统，该系统可以在接收端显示的视频中隐藏人。在第一年，基本方法可以1）提取视频中的人，2）根据人与摄像机之间的距离确定人的隐藏程度，3）传输在接收器处显示隐藏（模糊和透明）人所需的最小数据。该系统的一个特点是可以利用JPEG 2000数字图像编码国际标准的IP核进行开发。在第二年，4）该系统已实现在DSP板上和5）评估在真实的时间视频处理环境。

Conventional video communication systems transfer video image of an objected person in details to a receiver. These systems have been neglecting person's mind that sometimes he or she does not want to be seen. This research intends to develop a new video communication system which can conceal a person in a displayed video at a receiver. In the first year, a basic method which can 1) extract a person in a video, 2) determine degree of concealment of the person according to the distance between the person and the camera, 3) transfer the minimum data necessary to display the concealed (blurred and semitransparent) person at the receiver. The proposed system has a feature that the system can be developed utilizing IP core of the JPEG 2000 international standard of digital image coding. In the second year, 4) the system have been implemented on a DSP board and 5) evaluated in real time video processing environment.
