项目摘要

東南アジア諸国は現在急速に近代化に向かっているが,この地域には歴史的所産として華人社会が存在する。彼らは人口や権力の側面から見れば少数派に属するが,政治・経済・社会の各方面で大きな潜在力と影響力を有して居り,この地域の社会変化の重要な表徴となって居る。わがG班は東南アジア諸国の近代化の特色を,華人社会の近代化に焦点を絞り明らかにすることを主要な目的とした。近代化の範畴には多くの側面が含まれるが,G班は具体的には,華人社会の意識形態の変容の実際を明らかにすること,華人社会と現地国家の近代化の関係を観察する作業を行った。このためにシンガポール・マレーシア華文文学活動の史的変還を通じて,華人の思想意識の変容のしかた,教育特に華語教育の制度内容の変化とそれが華人社会の存立に及ぼす影響,現地諸国の政治面での野党活動と華人社会の関係,近代に伴う華人の居住形態の変化とその結果生ずる思想意識の変容状況,現地諸国の言語政策とその結果生ずる華人社会の分化の問題を各員分担して研究した。これら諸項目は複雑に関連し合うが,總じて言えば,華人社会は基本的には,少数派として華人アイデンティティの確立のため求心的な努力をしているが,祖先の出身地たる中国本土との係わりを意識的・無意識的に稀薄化し,脱中国化・離心的な方向に進み行く傾向もあり,その最先端に英語系華人が位置する。求心と離心の矛盾が深刻な社会問題を生み出している。G班は平成元年に国際学術調査の補助金を得て,現地調査も併行実施したが,研究すべき更に多くの問題を発見し、研究継続の決意を固めている。尚平成元年度内にG班は合計四回の会議と,大会参加一回,合計五回の合宿活動を実施した。
