项目摘要

華人社会は何時, 如何なる過程で成立したのか, それは今日の国際社会, 就中東アジアの発展の中でどのような役割を果しているのか, その未来の発展の形はどんなものであろうか. 華人社会は如何にすれば理解できるのであろうか, 従来経済・政治・歴史等, 外側の視点から数量的に把もらすと努力は相当になされて来たが, この他に華人社会の内側から華人の思想意識, 心的生活など, 精神文化の面から理解することも必要である. これまで, 一般に東南アジアで「華僑」の名で知られて来た中国系市民集団は, 今日では自ら「華人」と名を改めている. その背景には彼らのアンデンティティ, 国際社会での役割などについての変化が潜んでいる. この変化は特に第二次大戦後に見られる以下の事情と関連している.
