This funding application deals with the edition (including selection, transcription and commentary) of the extensive correspondence between Karl Jaspers (1883–1969) and his brother-in-law Ernst Mayer (1883–1952), which had become enormously important for the philosophical thinking of Jaspers, especially in the twenties and thirties of the last century. This correspondence is intended to appear as volume III/3 of the Karl Jaspers Complete Edition (KJG) published on behalf of the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and Humanities and the Göttingen Academy of Sciences and Humanities. The applying person and the person involved in the application are the heads of the KJG research center at the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and Humanities.
