1.NOAAー10、11号衛星からのリアルタイム受信データのなかから同衛星に搭載されている測器TOVS(Tiros Operational Vertical Sounder)に含まれているHIRS/2(High Resolution Infrared Radiometer Sounder)の第1、2、3、8、9の5チャンネルのカウント値を観測スポット毎にとり出し、カウント値から放射量、さらに輝度温度への変換が行えるようなアルゴリズムを作成した。2.NOAA/TOVSデータより求めた輝度温度からオゾン全量を導出するためには回帰法を用いるが、回帰係数の決定には仙台で連続実施しているレーザーヘテロダイン分光計によるオゾン観測結果および館野での気象庁によるドブソン分光計による観測結果を用いた。回帰係数の決定にあたっては現在のところNOAA/AVHRRの画像データ(チャンネル2および4)を目視で検査し、地上観測点上空が晴天である場合のデータのみ使うようにした。3.上記の方法で、NOAA/TOVSデータより仙台上空のオゾン量を求め、14個の地上観測値との比較を行なった結果相関係数は0.765であった。4.日本付近のオゾン全量水平分布についてNOAA/TOVSデータより求めた結果とNIMBUS衛星搭載のTOMSによる結果および札幌、館野、鹿児島でのドブソン分光計観測値との比較を行なった。その結果オゾン全量の絶対値、等高線傾度の方向などよい一致を示すことが明らかになった。5.以上よりNOAA/TOVSデータから、地上の一点でのオゾン全量観測値を支援データとして日本周辺のオゾン全量分布を求める可能性が示された。
