英文摘要
During the processing of plastics in twin-screw extruders, the thermal and mechanical stress on the material can lead to a molecular mass degradation which, among other things, influences the flow properties or the subsequent product quality. In the case of polypropylene (PP), which is one of the world's most important industrial mass plastics with a market share of about 20 %, the degradation of the mechanical properties is particularly critical because it is mostly irreversible. The effects of individual process parameters on material degradation during processing in the compounding process were investigated in the DFG predecessor project. The focus was on the development of recommendations for material-conserving processing methods that also fulfil boundary conditions such as a high throughput and the development of a model for calculating the material degradation of PP on the twin-screw extruder.Building on the research results obtained, the aim of this project is to transfer knowledge regarding the material degradation of PP between science and practice. In cooperation with the application partners, the aim is to verify the transferability of the findings gained on the laboratory extruder and to further develop the model for industrial compounding processes. To this end, investigations are being carried out with pure PP on industrial plant sizes and the influence of additives on material degradation is being researched. The research result will be a universally applicable calculation model for the material degradation of PP on the twin screw extruder.
