In the literature, the Mg alloy Mg97Zn1Y2 (at .-%) has been investigated and characterized with regard to the achievable mechanical properties, formability and texture development. The intermetallic LPSO phases occurring in this alloy result in an improved property profile. Further studies show that the manufacturing process influences the morphology and the associated precipitation kinetics of the phases. The resource-efficient process of twin-roll casting is the focus of research work at national and international level. There isresearch work on the use of new material technologies and the associated process management, but Mg alloys with rare earths have so far received little attention. Open questions about twin-roll cast LPSO-containing Mg alloys can thus be formulated. These are summarized below for a better understanding and to distinguish from previous results and research work: - The behavior of the LPSOcontaining Mg alloy Mg97Zn1Y2 (at .-%) was investigated for the cast and deformed state with regard to formability and texturedevelopment, but so far not in the twin-roll cast state. - Based on the twin-roll cast condition, it is unclear how the LPSO phases develop in this alloy system through heat treatment steps with regard to the precipitation kinetics and the associated morphology. - In addition, depending on the twin-roll cast and heat-treated initial condition, it isimportant to investigate which mechanisms can be activated during forming and which texture development is associated with it. The results obtained should make it possible to control the kinetics of LPSO phases in a twin roll cast Mg alloy Mg97Zn1Y2 (at .-%) in such a way that a thermomechanical treatment suitable for the application can be derived. This is accompanied by an assessment of the precipitation and transformation mechanisms and the resulting texture.
