渡辺はおよそ6ヶ月のカナダ滞在をし、そのうち多くをセイリッシュ語(スライアモン語およびホマルコ語)の現地調査に費やした。特に今回の調査ではテキスト収集をおこないながら、複雑な形態統語構造をみせる関係節について多くのデータをえた。そこから解明できた文法構造はこれまで特にスライアモン語・ホマルコ語にかんしては詳しい記述がなかったものであり、今後の研究の発展の基礎作りができた。その他でもこれまで記述が充分ではなかった点について、さらにデータを集め分析を進めた。新たなデータから闡明された点も多い。例えば複数を表わす二種の重複法はどのような時にどちらが使われるか不明だったが、このうち一種は状態アスペクトの語幹に対して施されることが分かった。弓谷は夏の現地調査では、トワ語の動詞と動詞に関係することを中心に調査した。一つは文法関係を表す動詞接頭辞で、特に受益接頭辞について調べた。受益接頭辞は受益者だけでなく所有者や、また一部の動詞につくと動作主も表すという特異なものである。また、前年度の調査では存在の表現に関する基礎的データを集めたが、今回は表現形式の各タイプについて、より多くの具体例を収集し、いくつか新しい発見もした。例えば、有生物の存在を示すのに、ある動詞を使うと、その生物が動いていることを示唆するのに対し、別の動詞を用いると、それがじっとしていることを示唆するそうである。さらに、今回の調査では、場所や方向を表す後置詞についても多くのデータを得た。
