The epidemic diseases have been spread in Jiangnan region because of overcrowding and ecological changes with the development of the region from 16th century to the present. The doctors of the traditional medicine created new theories that emphasized natural environment of Jiangnan region. After modern time, Traditional medicine has been innovated itself by consulting the Western modern medicine. Concerning to the schistosomiasis that has been an endemic in Jiangnan, modern Japan applied the result of the epidemiological research in Japan to Jiangnan region and tried to give a political influence in China. It is important to consider the innovation and succession of the Chinese traditional medicine, and the transmission of infectious diseases and social measures in the scale of East Asia.

从16世纪世纪至今，江南地区人口拥挤，生态环境发生变化，疫病在该地区蔓延。医家们创造了新的理论，强调江南地区的自然环境。近代以后，传统医学在借鉴西方现代医学的基础上进行了自我革新。近代日本针对江南地区流行的血吸虫病，将日本流行病学研究成果应用于江南地区，并试图在中国施加政治影响。在东亚范围内，中国传统医学的创新和继承、传染病的传播和社会措施都是重要的。
