2002年2月にフランスで設立された国立予防考古学研究所は、緊急発掘を専門的かつ独占的に行なう中央機関であり、現在、フランスにおける考古学活動の90%を担う、考古学の中心的な組織になっている。その一方で、従来の考古学研究の中心だった大学研究者と文化省文化遺産局考古部による考古学発掘は事実上停止し、彼らによる考古学研究も発掘をともなわない既存の遺跡の分析などに限定される傾向が生じてきている。このようなフランスにおける考古学発掘体制と中世考古学研究の新状況を理解するために、本研究の目標は次のように設定されている。1)フランスにおいて、ここ10年あまりの間に急速に発展した緊急発掘制度の形成過程とその組織の実態を、フランスにおける関係諸機関における調査と文献収集を通じて明らかにすること。2)フランスにおける新しい緊急発掘組織が遺跡の整備活用にどのように取り組んでいるか、また博物館や出版物を通じて発掘成果の公表をどのように行なっているかについて明らかにすること。平成18年度には、国立予防考古学研究所創設にいたる、ここ10年あまりの間の緊急発掘制度形成の経過とその組織の実態を明らかにするために、同年9月にフランス現地調査を行ない、ナンシー大学中世考古学研究所での情報収集とパリの国立予防考古学研究所所長J・P・ドゥムル氏へのインタビュー調査を行ない、同研究所の発掘と研究体制の現状をかなりよく把握することができた。これらを通じて、同研究所とその地方部局が、発掘された歴史遺産の保存と活用、公開に関して積極的な姿勢を持ちつつも、実際には、あまり成果が見られない現状を確認できた。その一方で、大学所属の考古学者などの中世考古学研究者の間では、従来の中心テーマだった、城、教会、墓地を中心とした定住地に関する研究が、新たなデータを欠いているために停滞する一方で、既に得られている遺跡の発掘データや現存する建物の分析から、居住空間としての城や町屋の研究、家具、室内設備、器具類に関する研究が進み、現在のフランス中世考古学研究が、これらの物質文化研究とも呼ぶべき領域へ移行しつつあることが確認された。

In February 2002, the National Institute of Preventive Archaeology was established. It is responsible for 90% of the archaeological activities of the central government and the organization of the center of archaeology. On the one hand, archaeological research has actually stopped among university researchers at the center of archaeological research in recent years and the Archaeology Department of the Cultural Heritage Bureau of the Ministry of Culture, and on the other hand, archaeological research has become increasingly restricted in the analysis of existing relics. The purpose of this study is to understand the new situation of medieval archaeological research in the context of archaeological exploration system. 1) Investigation and literature collection on the formation process of emergency development system, the status of organization and the relationship between various organs in the past 10 years. 2) The new emergency development organization, the museum, the publication, the public display of the results of the development, the organization of the site's preparation and utilization, the organization of the site's preparation and utilization, and the organization of the site's development and utilization. In 2018, the National Institute of Preventive Archaeology was established, and in 2010, the organization of the emergency excavation system was organized. In September of the same year, the National Institute of Preventive Archaeology conducted field research, and the information collection of the National Institute of Preventive Archaeology was conducted. The status quo of the development and research system of the same research institute is under control. This is a positive attitude towards the preservation, utilization and publicity of historical heritage through cooperation with local departments and research institutes, and a positive attitude towards the realization of achievements and the recognition of the status quo. Archaeologists affiliated with the University of the Middle Ages have been studying the center of the city, the church, the cemetery, the settlement, the excavation, the analysis of the existing buildings, the living space, the indoor equipment, and the construction of the city. The study of the relationship between instruments and the Middle Ages has been advanced, and the study of material culture has been confirmed.
