(1)本年度は、Report on the Native Papersの内、ベンガル州について、主要記事のタイトル、新聞名、発行年月日、および検索システムのためのキーワードの入力作業を昨年度の仕事を引き継いで行った。この作業はなお継続中である。また、この作業と並行して、カルカッタにおけるムスリムの存在形態、カルカッタ政治におけるムスリムの地位と役割、彼らの社会組織のあり方やその機能、経済活動などを歴史的に明らかにする作業を進めてきた。(2)インドネシアの都市地図のデータベース化を行い、その検索システムを検討してきた。この作業もなお継続中である。またこれらの地図を利用しながら、インドネシアの都市の歴史的な発展過程を、その形態的構造に重点を置きながら、ある程度解明しえた。(3)南インドの鉄道輸送関係の資料の入力作業を行い、その検索システムを作成中である。他方、南インドの都市の発展と鉄道輸送(品目、数量および輸送起点、目的地)との関連を追究してきた。(4)西インドの都市、とりわけボンベイとデリーの行政関係資料を中心にさまざまな統計(主に財政関係)の入力作業に着手した。また、ボンベイにおけるムスリム、パールシーの社会組織の存在形態と、それらがボンベイの政治、経済に果した役割を歴史的に解明する作業を行ってきた。(5)わが国の主要な研究機関(東京大学東洋文化研究所、アジア経済研究所、東京外国語大学アジア・アフリカ言語・文化研究所等)や南アジア研究者の所蔵する南アジア都市関係の図書、資料に関するデータベース化の作業に着手、入力データや検索システムの検討を行ってきた。(6)以上の各作業のやり方を検討し、かつそれぞれの研究の中間発表を行うため、本年度中に6回の研究会を開催した。
