まず本年は、M班(米山俊直代表)との共同研究という形で、合計7回の共同研究会を開催し、M班と本班の研究メンバー全員が研究発表をおこなった。これにより、黒アフリカのみならず、北アフリカ、中東地域のイスラム都市の基礎問題が全研究メンバーの共通知識として獲得された。このことをふまえたうえで、本班メンバーの研究実績を概略すると、以下の如くなる。(1)嶋田は、MU班研究以外にも、IJ班研究会でも研究発表をおこなった。その他発表論文数は6篇。その内訳は、ニジェール川内陸デルタにおけるフルベ・イスラム国家問題(2篇)。西アフリカにおけるイスラム国家都市問題の類型論的理解の試み(2篇)。イスラム都市文化の基盤としての衣服文化形成論(2篇)。書評(2篇)。(2)和崎は本研究会での研究発表以外に、8篇の論文を発表した。内容はアフリカのイスラム都市論(3篇)。大文字の火祭を中心とする日本の都市論(5篇)。都市人類学の基礎論・方法論(2篇)。内容は多岐にわたっているが基本的には結びついた問題であり、それ故和崎は、比較文明学会シンポジウム「文明と都市」でもパネラーをつとめた。(3)松田は、本研究会での研究発表以外にも、4篇の論文を発表した。その内容の中心は、東アフリカにおける都市出稼ぎ民問題であり、都市化にともなう部族性の崩壊と再生の問題を具体的に明らかにしている。松田の研究は直接、イスラム都市問題にかかわらないが、松田の研究を通じて逆に、イスラム都市の固有な問題が明確になりつつある。
