1.前年度、患者血漿中にEBウイルスゲノムを見いだしたことに基づき、そのコピー数について定量をおこなった。患者では対照群に比ベゲノムコピー数は有意に多く、予後の悪い者はウイルスコピー数が多かった。一方、治療によるウイルス数の減少を確認し、患者容態のモニタリング化への足がかりを得た。2.EBVの亜型検索として、LMP1遺伝子を対象に解析を進めた。EBV感染健常者から47系統、PTPD患者から49系統分離し、塩基配列を決定した。その結果、既知のChina1,China2,Mediterranean, B98-8亜型に加え、新たに2つの亜型、Southeast Asia(SEA)1とSEA2、を見いだした。特に、SEA1亜型は患者にのみ見いだされ、その機能解析が興味を引く。3.PTPDにおける癌抑制遺伝子p53の機能喪失については、p53のDNA結合ドメインにおける突然変異を調べた。、腫瘍切片試料より、DNAを分離しPCR-ダイレクトシーケンス法で塩基配列を検索したが、現在のところ(n=8)突然変異は見いだされていない。4.上咽頭癌について、癌抑制遺伝子P53について2つの検索をおこなった。先ず、P53のDNA結合ドメインにおける突然変異については、腫瘍試料を用い検索し、3割の症例に何らかの変異を見いだし、その1例はLOHを示した。次に、p53コドン72の多型(Pro/Arg)とNPC発症について調べた。全体では患者と対照群で、遺伝子型・対立遺伝子頻度に違いは見られなかったが、高年齢群ではPro/Pro遺伝子型のリスクが増加していた。
