We have conducted a series of surveys regarding sustainability and health, targeting several agricultural communities in West Java, Indonesia, which had different human ecological settings. We found that relatively subtle differences in natural/social settings may result in a substantial lifestyle difference. While we did not found evidence of substantial exposure to hazardous chemicals, a systematic and periodical biological monitoring of such exposure is recommended.
