本研究では、今まで明らかにしてきた非対称構造、対称構造についての研究手法および結果を網膜レベルより上位にある視覚系の神経回路、すなわち、大脳皮質のV1 野およびそれを入力とするMT野に適用して、V1野の刺激に対する方向性のベクトルの強さの観点から、研究を進め、層状ニューラルネットの次の層である、MT野のベクトルの強さが、さらに強くなることを計算論的手法により示した。本研究では、大脳皮質のV1野とそれに続く MT野の層状の回路が、非対称構造のネットワークを基本として、高次の非線形性で表わされることを計算論的に明らかにした。
