2022年度は、社会的ジレンマ状況 (皆が協力しないとよい状態を維持できないが、協力しないほうが個人にとって得になるため互いに協力するのが難しい状況)における罰の逆効果が安定して起こる現象なのかを確認するための実験を三度行った。実験を行う前には、Open Scienceに仮説、方法、分析方法を事前登録した。実験では、参加者を二つのグループに分けて社会的ジレンマ状況を模したゲーム (社会的ジレンマゲーム) を繰り返し行ってもらった。片方のグループ (統制群) は、全10回のゲームを通して罰のない状況でゲームを行った。もう片方のグループ (実験群) は、はじめの5回は協力しないと罰が科されたが、あとの5回では罰がなくなった。罰がなくなったときの実験群の協力の程度が統制群よりも少なければ、罰の逆効果が起こったことになる。実験の結果、すべての実験で有意な罰の逆効果は確認できなかった。また、罰がなくなったあとの協力は統制群と同程度になり、罰がなくなったあとも協力が維持できるということもなかった。本年度の研究報告としては、上記の三度の実験についてそれぞれ、社会心理学会大会、実験社会科学カンファレンス、数理社会学会での研究発表を行った。また、昨年度実施した実験についての論文を執筆し、社会心理学研究に採択、掲載された。
