脳性マヒ児をはじめとする肢体不自由児の姿勢・動作改善のための教育心理学ないし臨床心理学的な技法体系に臨床動作法がある。本研究の目的は、この動作法によって障害児の発達を促そうとする訓練者がそれぞれどのような過程を経て、その力量を向上させていくのかを検討することである。具体的には、まず動作法の主要な研修会である1週間宿泊集団集中訓練会に参加した20名の研修者(訓練者)の初日と最終日の訓練場面をビデオで撮影した。その中から、訓練者の経験度、被訓練児(肢体不自由児)の障害度、訓練課題等を勘案して6名分を選択し、個々の訓練者の力量が同じ条件で評定できるように編集した上で、初日と最終日の順番を無作為に並び替えたVTRを作製した。このVTRを動作法の実践経験のある養護学校の教諭および特殊教育を専攻している大学院生と大学生にみてもらい、各々の訓練者ごとに初日と最終日のどちらの方が上手だと思うか判断してもらった。またそれぞれ初日と最終日の訓練者の特性や技量を、18の評価項目から得る「臨床動作法における訓練者の力量の評定尺度」(古賀、1995)を用いて評定してもらった。その結果、まず88%の割合で、初日よりも最終日の方が上手な訓練場面だと判定され、1週間の訓練会で訓練者の力量が明らかに向上したことが示された。次に評定尺度の得点について主因子法による因子分析を行ったところ、補助の仕方などの訓練技術に関する因子と声かけの適切さなどの人間関係の因子の2つが抽出された。そこで訓練者について分析した結果、訓練技術に関する因子の得点が特に上昇するパターン、人間関係に関する因子の得点が特に上昇するパターン、両方の因子の得点が同じように上昇するパターンの3つにそれぞれ分類できることがわかった。
