A lot of powdered products (for drinking and eating) of the Japanese green tea which contains a large amount of fluorine (F), has been come on the market. Of couece, direct eating of powdered tea leaves every day will result in an increased Fintake levels. The results of our research suggested that the acidlabile F in the tea leaves release ionic F by gastric juice, and then is absorbed. The distribution of F in various tissues after the administration of powdered tea products, however, has not been thoroughly clarified. The purpose of the present study was to clealy the distribution of ionic F in the body after ingestion of powdered tea products. Two types of canned tea products containing only ionic F, canned green tea and canned oolong tea, were prepared. In order to save experimental animals, however, neither control group (only low F diet) nor commercial animal diet group were set up, and comparison was made between the results obtained by the present research and those obtained in … More the previous animal experiment.1. The average weight gain showed no differences between the powdered tea products dose groups and the canned tea dose groups, therefore no effects due to the difference in tea types were recognized.2. The increased ionic F levels in plasma was observed in both the powdered tea product groups and the canned tea dose groups. This results considered the transfer of acidlabile F to plasma as ionic F.Ionic F levels in the plasma of all dose groups were significantly showed lower ionic F levels than commercial animal diet group.3. The ionic F levels in hard tissues such as the femur and incisor showed the same tendency as the ionic F levels in plasma. Only the canned green tea dose group demonstrated a significantly remarkable correlation between the ionic F levels in the hard tissue and in the plasma (r=O.85).4. The ionic F levels in soft tissues of all dose groups showed higher than those levels in the control group and commercial animal diet group.S.The accumulation in hard and soft tissues determined in the canned tea product dose groups were higher than the levels of the powdered teaproducts dose groups. This fact suggested the possibility that the accumulation of F ingested in the form of ionic F may exceed that ingested in the form of acid labile F.Further examples are necessary before the absolute validity of this hypothesis is finally confirmed.
