Research on the Contents and Teaching Methods of Applied Mathematics in the Colleges of Technology

数学作为工程学科的重要学科之一，不仅要改进课程设置，而且要改进教学方法。在大多数高校中，不同工程课程的学生都必须学习相同的数学内容。我们认为不同的工程课程需要不同的数学课程。我们应该研究在每门工程课程中，什么样的数学课程和数学内容是有用的。然后，我们在许多工程领域考察了它们：材料强度的情况下，流体力学的情况下，电和磁的情况下，编码理论的情况下，热力学的情况。在整个调查过程中，我们发现了许多卓有成效的成果，这些成果发表在日本数学教育学会会刊第4、5、6卷，并作为教材出版：“矢量分析与电、磁”、“编码理论代数导论”。

As one of the most important subjects for engineering, mathematics should be considered to improve not only its curricula but also the way of teaching. In most colleges and universities, students in different engineering courses are obliged to study the same mathematics contents. We thought that the different engineering courses would need different mathematics curricula. We should investigate what kind of mathematics curricula and mathematics contents are useful in each engineering course. Then, we investigated them in many engineering fields : the case of Strength of Materials, the case of Fluid Mechanics, the case of Electricity and Magnetism, the case of Coding theory, the case of Thermodynamics. Throughout our investigation, we found many fruitful results, which were reported in Transactions of Kosen bukai of Japan Society of Mathematical Education Vol. 4 , 5, 6, and were published as text books : "Vector analysis and Electricity, Magnetism, " "Introduction of Algebra for Coding Theory."
