项目摘要

本年度は、これまで実施してきた調査、研究にて実態が明らかになりつつある関東・中部高地の地域性を探るべく、周辺地域である新潟県域や東海地域、近畿中部地域の資料調査を積極的に実施した。また、関東・中部高地で多数出土する鉄製武器に注目し、加工技術に注目した資料調査を全国規模で実施することで、高度な技術で作られた資料の分布状況も整理している。さらに、近年その数が増加している鉄器製作遺構の操業レベルを全国的に整理することで、鉄器加工技術に基づいた鉄器入手を考える下地を整えた。鉄器製作遺構の分析では、関東・中部高地に高温操業が指摘できる例も認められず、鉄器加工を想定できる遺構自体も少ないことが判明した。当該地域の鉄器加工技術が稚拙であることを再確認できたと言える。これは地域内での製作が想定される小型鉄器の加工技術とも矛盾しない。他方、関東・中部高地における高度な技術で作られた鉄器の量は、周辺地域を凌駕することが本年度の調査で明らかとなった。とくに弥生時代後期段階における大型で重厚な鉄製武器の出土量は、北部九州を含む西日本にも劣らない。これらの鉄製武器のなかには舶載品も含まれると思われ、広域に及ぶ鉄器流通網の存在を示唆している。上述した調査成果により、製品化された鉄器の入手に尽力した関東・中部高地の様相がより如実となってきた。これに対し近畿中部では、地域内の加工技術で製作できる鉄器の比率が高く、加工しやすい鉄素材の入手に力を注いでいた可能性がある。本年度の調査、研究により、関東・中部高地のにおける鉄器加工と入手の実態が明確化したことはもちろん、その地域性を言及できるデータベースも整ってきた。なお、今年度の調査成果は『新潟県考古学会2022年度秋季シンポジウム』や『第18回古代武器研究会』にて報告しており、論文も査読審査を受けている状況にある。

This year's survey, research and development of iron processing in Kanto and Central Highlands have been clarified.
