英文摘要
Researches on molecular functionalized electrodes having specific functionalities have been actively performed with a view to applying these electrodes to electrocatalysis, electroanalysis, selective electro-synthesis, and so on. However, interpretation of basic phenomena at these electrodes are often left untouched because their practical applications are the primary aim of these researches. The present project was undertaken in order to obtain better understandings of the basic problems for molecular functionalized electrodes by the cooperation of rsearchers in various fields, along with the development of these electrodes for practical use. The project members belonged to, at least, one of the following research groups: (1) basic theory, (2) new exploring methods of electrode surfaces, (3) polymer modified electrodes, (4) bioelectrocatalysis, and (5) biosensors, and proceeded to the project and their own work with mutual collaboration and discussion. Some of the results obtained wer … More e presented at the two symposia open to the public on "molecular functionalized electrodes" which were held by this project. The first one was given in Kyoto on November 16, 1985, where four lectures were presented and the second, consisting of eight lectures and a panel discussion, was held in Tokyo on January 30, 1986. Further results are given in the report of the present project. These results include (1) derivation of current-potential equations for surface redox reaction under the effect of interactions of adsorbed species; (2) establishment of applicability of specular reflection measurement to the study of adsorbed layers on glassy carbon electrodes; (3) elucidation of the relation between charge transport within polymer membranes and their structure; (4) elucidations of the role of mediator in glucose oxidase electrode, and that of promoters in the electron transfer reactions of c-type cytochromes at an electrode interface; and (5) development of optical immunosensors and ISFET microbiosensors.
