Clinical Application of Three-Dimentional Analysis of Facial Morphology

We have developed a three-dimentional analytical system of facial morphology which we have applied clinically to patients with such abnormalities as cleft lip and palate, maxillary deformation, and dental inflammation and to normal subjects.We have reported our findings on the scores obtained from normal subjects as well as pre- and postoperative changes in patients with cleft lip and palate and with maxillary deformation who received osteotomies. Also included were changes in inflammation over time in patients with dental inflammation.In conclusion, we have found this method useful for establishing plans both for diagnosis and operative schedules within a period as short as about 20 minutes.
