项目摘要

『預言者ヨナの幻視-ミケランジェロのシスティナ礼拝堂天井画の構造について-』と題して『山口大学「文学会志」』に研究成果を現在連載中であるが, 枚数の制約もあって研究の現状に発表が追いつかない状態にある. 今年度の研究は上記連載とは別の形で『幻想天井画論』と題して美学会誌『美学』に発表する予定である. 二年間に亙るシスティナ礼拝堂天井画のイコノロジカルな画面内容の意味の解釈とイコニカルな画面構成そのものがもたらす新たな意味の摘出を踏まえて, 今年度の研究の主たる目的はこの特殊な幻想天井画の歴史的な系譜の探究に置かれた. その結果, 従来考えられてきたミケランジェロのバロック天井画への影響は本質的なものではなく, むしろ時代と場所を遥かに超えて, 南ドイツのバロケットの画家たちに受け継がれていることが判明した. 具体的にその一例を挙げれば, アルダースバッハの前シトー派修道院教会の長堂のアザム兄の手になる大天井画『聖ベルンハルトのクリスマスの幻視』がそれである. 「システィナ礼拝堂天井画に本質的な二重の意味構造を摘出し, 隠されたメイン・テーマを明らかにする」という当初の課題はほぼ達成されたが, 「この研究過程の美学的反省によって, 図像の意味内容の解釈学と構造自体の意味の解釈とを総合する方法論の模索」という第二の最も困難な課題は今後の課題として依然として残されている. 研究の方位が幻想天井画の系譜とその構造の分析にまで拡大されたため, 雑誌論文の制約の中で全てを発表することに著しい不都合を感じている. 研究成果の最終的な取り纏めは雑誌論文とは形式を別にして『預言者ヨナの幻視』と題して一冊の著書の形で公表する予定である.
