豪農や地方の知識人が書き残した日記やそれに類する記録は、、古くから所在が知られておりながら、その史料的検討ならびにその史料的体系化の試みはほとんどなされてこなかった。そこで私は、まず豪農の日記やそれに類する日記史料の既刊分の調査に集中した。他方で、豪農あるいは農民に限定しないで、ひろく既刊の日記史料について推理しておく必要性を感じ、時期的には幕末から明治期というほぼ19世紀段階の日記史料を、公卿関係,政治家関係,志士関係と分けて検討した。その多くは『日本史籍協会叢書』や『野史台維新史料叢書』(ともに東京大学出版会復刻)に所収されているが、政治家・志士関係のものには伝記や単行本の形で刊行されているものも少なくない。また政治家とかかわって藩政・幕政史料にも多くの日記史料が含まれていること、その他旅日記・祭日記関係も少なくなく、これらには末刊のものが尨大であることも判った。さて、既刊日記史料の整理とともに、農民の日記については、長野県東筑摩郡朝日村の調査を行ない、ほぼ一村全体の史料の中から日記という名称のついた史料を抽出して検討したところ、その多くが実際は金銭出入帳や大福帳と同じ経営的史料であることがわかり、こうした内容でなく、私的部分や村落生活史や村落状況にかかわる記述の多い日記史料に照準を合せて整理を加えることにした。その結果、豪農および在地知識人の手になり生活史的内容が豊かであるか生活史的記述が多いであろうと思われる既刊日記をリスト化し、本学部紀要に発表した。既刊リストの充実をはかるとともに、今後は来刊で内容の豊かな愛知県の古橋日記、長野県麻績村葦沢家「歳中日記帳」など二・三の日記の解読をすすめると同時に、内容の検討を行なって、個別論文の蓄積をしていくつもりである。

The contents of the life history of the local intellectuals are recorded in many journals and published in the journal of this department. The contents of the current issue are abundant, and the contents of the future issue are abundant. The Furuhashi Journal of Aichi, the "Annual Journal" of the Nagano Maki Village, and the explanation of the diary of February and March are simultaneously published. The contents are discussed and accumulated.
