本研究は, ある作業課題を遂行するさいに生じる固有のヒューマン・エラーをとりあげ, そのエラーに内在する特徴, 構造特性を明らかにすることを目的とする. これは同時に, そのような特徴的なエラーを生成, 発生する認知過程(心理過程)そのものに内在する機能ならびに構造, とくに意味知識情報処理過程を究明することである. このような研究の結果得られる知見は, 現代の巨大なマン・マシン・システムでのヒューマン・ファクターによる事故や災害への対処, 予防にとって, また, 教育的, 技術的対策への指針として欠かせない. 本研究は, そのための基礎的研究の第一歩となる. なお, ヒューマン・エラーは, 決して無作為に生じるのではなく, 一貫した意味と論理構造をもつ. それは, 課題解決過程における意味的情報処理にともなって生じるものと予測される. このような誤りを, バグないしはアルゴリズムエラーとよぶ . エラーの生成をつかさどるルールの存在することが示唆される.実験1:アルゴリズムエラーの生成過程-再生課題での意味的誤りからみた記憶知識情報の構造特性-. これは, 上記の目的のうちの基礎的な知見を得るために試みた. 被験者の作業課題は, 呈示3単語を記銘することである. 語の間には意味的な関連性の有為などが操作された. 記銘後, 呈示後のうちの1語ないし2語を再生手掛り語として呈示し, 残りの語を再生するように求めた. この時に生じた誤りをもとに, 誤りの構造が調べられた. その結果, 誤りを生成する過程は, 意味知識情報処理における特徴的なしくみによることが判明した. いいかえると, 知識体系に内在する, その課題に対する意味情報自体の誤り, いわばプログラムミスに相当する手続き誤りである.実験2:知識構造にもとづく誤りの分析は, 改めて物理的現象に対する身近かな認識や理解のもとでの誤りをめぐって実験的に検討された. 誤りへの対処法や指針についてはなお検討課題である.
